sophie ✖It was nostalgic being in this place, even if it now looks like some iron forest. When the radiation hit all the plants that day they mutated, and grew ten times faster, they had to of. At least, that was the thought crossing the young woman's mind as she walked cautiously through the area. She was worried that something might be out here, but at the same time she knew that if something did appear in her path she would most definitely defend herself.
Sophie sighed lightly, though climbed up a few of the steps that belonged to one of the old roller coasters, and every time it creaked she paused in place until it stopped. She crossed her arms when she reached the top, and looked out over the area which was filled with lush greenery apart from the parts of old iron rides. Inhaling deeply she relaxed, and watched the world from this height as she closed her eyes ever so slightly to remember how this place used to look. But every time she did her heart ached with the happy memories of before, though she had to face the fact they were all gone now.
Lifting her right hand she flicked her hair behind her ear, and dropped that hand down to her side placing it on her hip.
I hate this place, and what it turned into. Sophie muttered under her breath, and kicked a piece of the roller coaster but as she did she instantly regretted it as it creaked and swayed under her feet. Swallowing hard, and paling a bit more than her usual color, she moved quickly to an edge grabbing the bar. The avian's wings were still hidden on her back like a tattoo, and in this moment forgetting that she even had them.
Sophie was attempting to ignore the fact that fear was gripping her on the inside, and biting into her cheek, but at the same time the old beams started to tip and bring her with them. But at that instant when she was falling with it the young woman remembered her wings, and jumped off the side like she was going to kill herself but instead large leather-like wings burst from her back catching her in mid-fall helping her glide down to the ground. She ran a few steps, then sprinted behind a few trees to escape the crumbling ride as a few parts of the roller coasters trails fell off as well but couldn't bring the whole thing.

The amusement park... once a place of fun and adventure for families, now stood like a haunted scrap-metal forest, the roller coaster shedding eerie light on the ground, and the occasional groan off joints echoing through the foliage-shrouded ruins. A young man with dark red hair and striking emerald eyes looked up at it, admiring the austere beauty of the place, and sighed softly, reminiscing. Ahkra's thoughts were cut short, however, as a particularly loud groan of metal pierced the air, and the raven avian's wings snapped out defensively and he searched the area for the source of the noise. Looking around on the ground was nearly a fatal mistake, however; he saw the changing shadows of the roller coaster almost too late.
Wings beating down desperately with a shocked sound, Ahkra took flight rapidly, backpedaling from the falling tracks of the coaster, cursing under his breath. Glancing around once he was at a safe distance, he spotted another winged figure, gliding to the ground in the wake of the destruction, looking a bit shell-shocked herself. Sighing, once he had glanced to confirm that no more of the coaster would fall, he alighted next to her, one hand on his hip. "That was a bit reckless," he commented faintly, remembering nearly being crushed himself. He sighed softly, looking slightly irked.

sophie ✖A bit reckless? The words echoed in her head as she glanced over at the stranger, eyes squinted a bit into a scowl on her face. Shifting a bit, and rolling her eyes a little, appearing to act like none of that had happened in the first place.
Well, it's not like I had any idea it was going to fall. I thought mother nature had a hold on it. She said in response to him, and crossed her arms over her chest, wings folded loosely against her back but they twitched. The young woman glanced over towards where the part of the ride fell, and her lips twitched a bit at the thought of what could have happened if she didn't get away from it all in time. She did not want to live through that disaster if she were crushed, she decided. And her eyes returned to the stranger as she quirked brow, as well as using her usual sassy way of tossing her hair over her shoulder.
Any reason you just decide to show up on a girl in the middle of no where after a freak accident? She didn't act like she was surprised, but she definitely had been when he decided to just drop in next to her because frankly she didn't notice him earlier. And the fact it was a man out here, in the middle of no where, she was a bit on edge because she didn't know what she would be coming across of all things. Seriously, what if this guy was really a murdering type hiding behind a normal guise? Well, never know till it's too late, and her shoulders quivered visibly at the thought.

"Excuse me?" Ahkra looked, in all sincerety, shocked at her last question. Blinking as he attempted to recover his composure, he put one hand on his hip, frowning at her as if not sure what to make of her. "I just came here to relax and reminisce, and find myself nearly plowed by half a roller coaster. I assure you, I hadn't planned for it." He could see, nevertheless, that it had been a true accident, and she hadn't even been aware that anyone, other than herself, was in danger of any kind. His expression softened a little bit; he wasn't mad, and didn't blame her.
"Thankfully, it looks like we both made it out of that all right," he commented, offering a bit of a smile. Holding out a hand for her, he introduced himself; "I'm Ahkra, by the way. It's nice to meet you, even if the circumstances were a bit strange...."
He glanced back at the ruins of the roller coaster, large iron tracks standing up out of the ground like giant metal spikes, others littering the ground around them.

sophie ✖Right, whatever you say. Sure, if he didn't pick it up by down she was honestly very defensive, but who wouldn't be these days. She was trying to pretty much protect herself, and it was just how she did it. Sighing a bit at his next response she nodded lightly, shifting a bit on her feet, and shrugging a little. But Sophie didn't respond to him as fast as she should have, instead she was silent as she glanced behind her with a light shudder running through her shoulders, and biting into her cheek. The woman was glad that she made it through that, because if she hadn't then she would either be dead or worse off with something broken and so could have he.
Yeah, well, it's a good thing we're safe. Would have been pretty bad. And... I'm, Sophie.

"It's a pleasure," Ahkra said, with a sweet smile, having more or less recovered from the shock of the roller coaster coming down nearly on top of him. They had both been lucky today... no one could deny that. Death would have been the best outcome. At worst, they might have both been badly injured, left to be picked off by the Diseased.
Glancing over at the other avian, eyes lingering on her curious wings, he asked, "so what brought you to the amusement park? I don't normally see very many people around here." It's just the Diseased, usually... and they didn't make for very good company, Ahkra thought. A thousand questions raged inside of him regarding the young woman, but he knew better than to throw them out all at once. If he did, he'd probably just end up angering her or scaring her away. Nevertheless, he'd never seen an avian with anything other than bird wings, before....
