Ahkra patiently answered each question that Eris had, happy to sate her curiosity for her new home. Indeed, there were a lot of strange and interesting things around the cathedral. Some had been here before Arc and Ahkra moved in and claimed the place, others had been here for far longer, such as the tome that Eris stumbled across, tucked away in the sanctuary. The younger avian's eyes lit up as she picked through the pages, her touch delicate and gentle on the fragile paper.
Giving the girl a smile, he told her, "You can hold onto that, if you'd like." Glancing towards the windows, his gaze settled on the rising moon, darkness creeping into the sky in the aftermath of dusk. "Why don't I show you were you can sleep, and maybe we can find a small dresser or endtable, so that you can keep that book or anything else you might find closeby?"
Like a father might, he offered his hand to her, and gently took hers in his as he lead the way down to the bedrooms, and stepped into an unused one.
It was nothing fancy, really, but things were in very good condition. The mattress on the bed, though covered by clean sheets currently, was free of stains and still as soft and comfortable as the day it was bought. A couple of well-stuffed pillows were nestled under the lip of a few thick quilts which had a certain home-made quality to them, and, true to Ahkra's earlier statement, there was a vanity dresser across the room with a slightly fogged mirror and fading varnish, and a a matching endtable beside her bed.
Reaching into his pack, Ahkra pulled out a large handful of linen-colored candles and a small saucer. He placed the saucer on her endtable with one of the candles sitting on top, and opened the drawer, depositing the rest of the candles in there for future use. Taking a rather beat-up looking lighter that was nonetheless functional, he reached out and lit the candle, helping to illuminate the rapidly darkening space, and set that down beside the candle, should she need it again.
"I know it can get pretty dark around here, and we have to save whatever electricity or gas we can muster for cooking and things, so these will help out a bit," he told her. The room wasn't much... but he hoped that she would like it here, and that perhaps soon, this room would no longer be so bare. Rather, perhaps it would sport the touch of a young lady and become decorated and cluttered with curiosities and useful items.

With wonderment in her eyes, Eris explored the room in the way a dreamwalker would - moving slowly, clutching the newly gifted book to her chest as her eyes scanned over the small, dark room. Despite the gloom, it was a nice place, maybe even too large for her yet. She would have to fix that soon. Though she kept nothing but her mother's gifts throughout her journey, maybe this was a place to make home. Starting, of course, with this single book.
Placing the book down on the endtable with reverence and respect, the dark-eyed girl turned her gaze up at Ahkra, the orbs dancing with the orange of the firelight deep in their depths. "Thank you so much, Lord Ahkra. I think this place may finally be home." Her smile was a child's; bright and innocent, excited for the adventure of learning to come.
